CONNECTICUT WHALE 2021-22 JOB OPPORTUNITIES

INTERN, Connecticut Whale – Danbury, CT 

The Connecticut Whale Hockey Club, through its parent company Shared Hockey Enterprises LLC, is hiring several intern positions to support the front office personnel in managing the off-ice business of the Whale Hockey Club competing in the Premier Hockey Federation. The right candidates will have a passion for the overall mission of the Connecticut Whale hockey club, be current students in a directly related field, enjoy working with deadlines, and be flexible in their thinking and approach to the job. The positions will report to various front office personnel dependent on responsibilities. All internships are unpaid in their first year with the potential to earn pay in a second year. Some travel may be required depending on the position. 

The following positions are currently open:

Social Media Intern – 

The Social Media Intern will support the Social Media Manager in the effective use of social media outlets as a marketing and branding tool for the Whale. The Social Media intern will be tasked with several key duties including but not limited to:

  1. Assisting the Social Media Manager with frequent social media posts to expand awareness, engage fans, and continue to build a positive brand image
  2.  Attending  the team’s 10 home games to produce real-time updates on social platforms 
  3. Working alongside the sponsorship team to create and produce appropriate digital content in support of our paid sponsorships
  4.  Assisting the Social Media Manager with tracking, monitoring, and analyzing social media analytics 
  5. Support the Social Media Manager otherwise as needed  

Graphic Design Intern – 

The Graphic Design Intern will work closely with the Team’s Graphic Designer

  1. Support scheduling of practice ice time and facilities
  2. Work with the General Manager and Travel Coordinator on travel plans and execution of travel for all away games 
  3. Support the scheduling and execution of pre-season exhibition games
  4. Work closely with the PHF and Club’s personnel to help grow the game and maintain the integrity of the PHF, Club and the sport of ice hockey. 
  5. Work with the ticketing, sponsorship, and game day personnel to ensure excellence in operational execution on game day
  6. Support the club’s sponsorships responsibilities as needed 

Sales Intern – 

The Sales Intern will work directly with the team’s Director of Ticket Sales & Service to support the community outreach and sales efforts of the Whale. The Sales Intern will be tasked with several key duties including but not limited to:

  1. Assisting the Director of Ticket Sales & Service with outreach to the Whale’s fans and sponsors to support the team’s efforts to grow the attendance at games
  2.  Establishing and supporting community relationships through event support 
  3. Assisting the Director of Ticket Sales & Service in whatever duties are required to support the Team’s growth efforts.
  4.  Attending the team’s 10 home games to insure a seamless and high-quality experience for fans and sponsors  

Qualifications 

  • All interns must be enrolled in a higher education institution and must be following a related course of study to their internship.
  • Must possess a high level of commitment to the growth of women’s sports and women’s hockey.
  • Must be organized, take initiative, and be able to balance the internship with outside studies.
  • Ability to travel to all team home games and occasional practices if needed.
  • Strong positive communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A knack for quick problem solving and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
